“The MICHAEL JACKSON Most People Thought They Knew But Didn’t”

Written by Alberta Parish

At 8:37 a.m., as I watch Michael Jackson’s music video entitled You Are Not Alone, I’m listening to the lyrics of this song, and these lyrics are haunting. Even his dancing, which looks very natural and not forced (you can tell the difference) haunts me. The song is very much prophetic in a sense, and it truly bears Michael Jackson’s soul as well as the inner turmoil that he was experiencing at the time the music video was created. “You Are Not Alone” speaks volumes to anyone who thought they knew Michael Jackson, but never did. I mean, the second chorus in the song is enough to send shockwaves through anybody’s body. When I first saw this video, I cried and I kept crying. And each time I look at the video, I still cry (whether within or without). When I saw Michael Jackson’s memorial service this past Tuesday, I cried because I was afraid for this man’s soul. The lyrics of You Are Not Alone, which stands out the most says, “Just the other night, I thought I heard you cry, asking me to come and hold you in my arms, I can hear your prayers, your burdens I will bear, but first I need your hand, then forever can begin, everyday I sit and ask myself how did love slip away, something whispers in my ear and says that you are not alone, for I am here with you, though you’re far away, I am here to stay.” The entire song has duplicate meanings. For instance, in the first chorus of the song, Michael is talking about a lover that he has lost. Apparently, she had either died or she left him for whatever reason, and now he feels all alone. He is lamenting having lost the love of his life. But then, in other verses of this song, it seems as though God is talking to him, and letting him know that he is really not alone; that God is with him. It seems like God is telling him, 'I can hear your prayers, your burdens I will bear, but first I need your hand, then forever can begin.'

In the Gospel of Matthew, chapter 11 and verses 28-30, it is written, “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.” Jesus Christ was telling us in the above Bible verses that when you’re heavy laden with trouble, oppression, depression, even sin, he wants us to cast all of these burdens upon Him, because He cares deeply for us. Jesus is telling us that He can carry all of our pain, our sorrows, our sickness of any kind if we cast all of these burdens upon Him, because Jesus says that His yoke is easy and His burden is light, which is why He can carry our burdens far better than we can. I think Michael Jackson meant (according to his lyrics) that the Lord—just the other night—thought that he heard Michael crying and asking Him to come and comfort him (i.e. ‘hold you in my arms’). I think Michael is saying that the Lord could hear his prayers and that the Lord also said to him, “Your burdens I will bear.” Then Michael went on to say that the Lord said, “But first I need your hand, then forever can begin.” See, in order to obtain the peace (rest) that God has for us, we have to first accept Him and His Son Jesus Christ. We have to give Jesus our hand and our heart, and believe fully in Him. Please make no mistake about the divinity of Jesus. He wasn’t just a prophet. Jesus is Lord God. Jesus said, “I and my Father are one.” It is written, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by Him; and without Him was not anything made that was made. In Him was life; and the life was the light of men…He was in the world, and the world was made by Him, and the world knew him not.” We know this to be none other than Jesus Christ who came down to us and died for the sins of the world. And even though the world is still sinning, this doesn’t make Jesus’ death less significant. Jesus still paid the ultimate price for all of our sins. He did the will of His Father.

For some people, the peace that they allow God to give them sometimes will come in the form of their own physical death so that they may inherit eternal life in the Kingdom of Heaven. For others, they obtain the peace of God in their physical existence. Even in the midst of the storms that are waging around us, we can have the peace of God present in our lives, if we allow God to give us that peace; that rest for our souls. Michael Jackson was never truly at peace with himself. Sure, he found a temporary kind of peace and happiness in his physical existence whenever he was making music in the studio or when he was performing live on stage. In fact, in the video, You Are Not Alone, Michael Jackson is on a stage performing but there’s no audience, and the stage that he is performing on looks completely tranquil, and there’s no one around him. Not dancers. Not anyone. Just him, all alone by himself, singing and feeling happy. In reality, the audience would be there, but for him the stage in this particular music video is where he found peace, even if it didn’t last long. During the opening of the video, you see a crowd of paparazzi figures flashing their cameras and looking at him as if he is some sort of specimen, and Michael is just walking by them, even ignoring them. Michael didn’t even stop in order to pose for the cameras. Then he’d walk into other scenes of his life, which are completely free of the paparazzi and tabloid figures, all of whom in some form or another, made a spectacle of this man’s life since the Jackson Five days. Michael would walk into other various scenes of his life during the video, which displayed a look of complete tranquility all around him with the exception of only one particular scene in the video in which he is standing alone in a dried-up, desolate land, completely uninhabited by animal or human. This scene depicts the loneliness and perhaps ultimate betrayal that Michael Jackson felt during his life. Perhaps, his heavy prescription drug use during the final years of his life was fostered by the need to obtain complete tranquility, and to escape the emotional trauma that he lived with. He was never truly happy with himself, and walking in peace with himself during the final years of his life.

My only prayer and concern is that Michael Jackson followed through when it came to giving the real Jesus his hand as well as his heart, so that Michael’s own eternity could begin. Because in order to inherit eternal life, you have to accept Jesus as Lord God and Savior, believe in Him, allow Him to come into your heart and save you really from yourself, and give you new life. You must open your heart to Jesus, allow Him to come in, and live in you through His Spirit. Jesus came to save us all, but you must do your part. In the song, You Are Not Alone, Michael Jackson said, “But first I need your hand, then forever can begin.” Forever is eternity. So the verse Michael sang meant that he could gain eternity only after he gives Jesus his hand. It is written, “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”

Let me clarify that by no means did Jesus tell Michael to take all these painkillers, and then take His hand so that forever can begin. This is not what Michael meant through his lyrics. Please understand that Jesus does not condone the destruction of God’s temple. Our bodies are the temples of the living God. Really, your body is NOT your body to destroy. God lent us this physical body to house our spirit body. Once the physical body is dead, your spirit body (which has no physical boundaries) lives on. There is physical death and there is eternal death. Eternity with Jesus is a life with Him in the Kingdom of Heaven.

What’s further haunting about You Are Not Alone is the fact that Lisa Marie Presley, daughter of Elvis Presley and ex-wife of Michael Jackson was in the music video starring opposite of Michael. Michael had told Lisa years ago that he was afraid he’d end up dying like her father. Even though Michael had gone into rehab for addiction to painkillers in 1993, he couldn’t give up the drugs, and Lisa left him in 1996 after being married to him for two years. Word is, she had gotten tired of all the vampires surrounding Michael Jackson, his enablers who supplied him with plenty of drugs, because they were all using Michael for his money. I believe there was a conspiracy against Michael, not only with the false allegations against him that he had committed child molestation but there was a conspiracy to keep Michael drugged up all the time, to keep a known drug addict ‘happy’, so that certain people could continue their money-train and others could keep their jobs. This is why criminal charges will be filed not only against Michael’s doctors, but also his enablers for their corroboration in the commission of a homicide. People who have gotten drugs for Michael in his or her name may also be charged with criminal negligence, even voluntary manslaughter.

Michael’s album, “HIStory: Past, Present & Future”, which features the song, You Are Not Alone, is the appropriate title for this man’s story and career in the music business as well as the evil that came along with being rich, famous, and well-known for your music around the entire world.

sadly, I don't think we will ever know the real truth.
